The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin engine supersonic multirole combat aircraft, which is now owned by Boeing. The F/A stands for Fighter/Attack aircraft. In 1973 Congress ordered the US Navy to find a lower cost replacement to the F-14 Tomcat. The first production F/A-18 took flight on November 18, 1978 and it has been the US Navy's primary fighter jet ever since. The F-35C is suppose to replace it, but it will be awhile before that happens. The F-18 is also the same aircraft that is used for the US Navy Blue Angel demonstration team. This was a special version that I made of the F/A-18 with the US Navy Top Gun Weapons School patch on the bottom. It is is 3 inches in length with a polished nickel finish to really make it pop.
This diecast challenge coin is 3 inches in size with a polished nickel finish.
